IBM Software is announcing the next step in its Business Partner channel strategy, Growth Through Skills. In January 2010, IBM launched a new controlled distribution model designed to differentiate and reward Business Partner skills, experience, investment and commitment. A subset of the IBM software portfolio will continue to be offered through Software ValueNet or through open distribution.

Business Partners who continuously invest in their skills and successfully apply their skills are aligned to benefit from this strategic shift.

What Is Business PartnerPlan?

PartnerPlan is IBM's process for documenting our relationship with an IBM Business Partner. PartnerPlan brings a team together, has them agree on revenue objectives, the actions that will be taken, and then work together to implement the plan.

PartnerPlan is the main method of communication between IBM and the Business Partner. It details in which industries and with which software brands the Business Partner is going to go to market.

An approved Business Plan is required for a partner to gain entry into Controlled Distribution and the IBM marketing programs. The Business PartnerPlan is a living document detailing how a partner will go to market and the results of any campaigns.
