A Day in the Life of an Arrow Apprentice: Starting a Career in Business Administration

Meet Brooke

Current Role at Arrow: Sales and Service Delivery Administrator Apprentice

Studying: Business Administration Level 2

Date started at Arrow: August 2017

Tell us a little about yourself

I have just finished college and have a keen interest in working as part of a team.

I had heard from others that Arrow is a great place to work, with plenty of progression opportunities. Especially after completing the apprenticeship scheme I am now doing.

This is my fourth month at Arrow, working with the Support Services team, and I am enjoying it beyond belief. Everyone is so friendly and supportive.

In my spare time I love to socialise with with my family and friends, and play hockey.

How have you found the first couple of months in your role on the Apprenticeship Programme?

What have you been doing on a daily basis since joining Arrow?

I am really enjoying working here at Arrow, everyone is so supportive and happy to help whenever needed. I have been given lots of opportunities and also have my own responsibilities within the Support Services team.

I am now just over four months into my role and feel as if I am progressing well.

On a day to day basis I process orders for the team, I am also responsible for running our renewals reports every Monday. This allows us to see how many contracts we have renewed the week before and to ensure that things aren't missed.

Why did you want to start an apprenticeship with Arrow?

I was originally a nanny for a local family and studied Health and Social Care at college, however I decided that I would prefer to work within a team.

After speaking to someone who is employed at Arrow about the Apprenticeship Programme, I got in contact with the HR team and enquired about what they had available.

They told me about the number of opportunities Arrow had to offer after completing the programme and this was also confirmed in my interview.

It's a well organised programme and I already feel as if I have come a long way since starting my job here at Arrow.

What makes Arrow a great place to work?

Arrow is a great environment to work in, everyone is very friendly and bubbly which means there is never a dull day in the office, even at quarter-end which is the busiest time for us.

As I have previously said, there are many opportunities to progress within Arrow as a company and they are fully supportive of your intentions.

What is the most exciting thing you have done in your role at Arrow to date?

Since working at Arrow the most exciting thing I have done is contributing to my first closing quarter, a particularly busy few days, chasing customers and processing order which enabled the team to achieve their targets and subsequently achieve their bonuses.

Tell us something new that you have learnt here?

I have learnt many news things along my journey, as it was a completely new experience and environment for me. I was nervous at first as I had never done business admin.

However, I was shown how to do everything and now I am fully confident in my responsibilities.

I have developed my skills in using Excel and other programmes I use daily such as; Omnitracker, Microsoft Dynamics and The Grid.
